Brooklyn Craft Central Holiday Craft Market - December 18 & 19, 2010

Hermelinda will be warming up the Brookyn Craft Central Holiday Market with some new recipes - hope to see you there.

Kensington World's Fair - October 24, 2010

Residents of Kensington, Brooklyn had the brilliant idea to host a festival to unify the diverse - and segregated - ethnic groups in the community.  Their idea became the Kensington World's Fair, and brought together Bangladeshi folks dancers, Yiddish klezmer musicians, Latino cooks, Day of the Dead skeletons, and a great crowd.

Hermelinda tried out a brand new recipe: "Mexican Spiced Cider" or Ponche, a hot brew of local apples, tamarind, sugarcane, cinnamon, and tropical fruits.  Rojas family traditionally drink ponche, somewhere between hot cider and fruit stew, on winter holidays.

FAB! Fourth Arts Block - September 25, 2010

Fourth Arts Block and Brooklyn Craft Central co-sponsored the FAB! Festival and Block Party to showcase the East 4th St. Block cultural district.

The block was packed with theater, music, and dance performances, as well as a curated flea market and gourmet food vendors (ahem, patting selves on chest).  Hermelinda refilled one poet's lemonade glass three times.  Hermelinda also met some great new vendors - we particularly liked Akiko's Cookie and Volta Organics (after selling next to them all day, smelling the amazing scents coming off of their soaps and skincare, we had to take some home).

PARKED! Food Truck Festival - September 5, 2010

We were blessed with great weather on Governor's Island for the PARKED! Food Truck Festival.  We only wish we had brought more food!  We learned a lot, and are thrilled and grateful for the response - next year we'll be cooking about ten times as much.

Asobi Seksu at Gowanus Canal

The ever eclectic MeanRed Productions presented Asobi Seksu at Brooklyn Yard on August 21.  And Hermelinda was there to debut fresh watermelonade, lemonade, and tostadas which have quickly become favorites.  We joined several other great vendors - including Bao Bing with Taiwanese shaved ice and K-Thos Korean Barbecue.

Greenpoint Food Market

We got our start - as "Governor Jan Brewer Quesadillas" - at Joann Kim's fabulous Greenpoint Food Market in summer 2010.  Although GFM is currently on hiatus, the market was a locus of real food and a fertile incubator for a number of outrageous and original food businesses.  We owe you guys!
